The Sphinx

The Sphinx is a natural rock formation in the Bucegi Mountains in Romania. It is located at an altitude of 2.216 metres, a 10-minute walk from the Babele.

The image of the sphinx appeares when the rock, having an 8 m height and a 12 m width, is watched from a certain angle.

Origin of the name Sphinx is due to its resemblance to a human head. Its shape is due to the wind erosion.

Can be reached by cable car or on foot. Cable car from Busteni up to Babele (2.206 m).
